Municipal Solid Waste(MSW) is quite different from other solid wastes. The type of waste that cities have the most choice in managing is made up of everyday items that are used and discarded, such as sachets, pouches of Shampoo, oil, sauces, Gutka/Khenis, Chips, Kurkure, namkin, wrappers of Chocolate’s, aluminum foils, thermocoal, tetrapacks, sanitary and baby napkins, cans, glass, bottles and containers, plastic bottles and containers, packaging bags, paper products, and cardboard. Usually MSW comes from four primary sources as follows:
1.Domestic Waste – from Residential areas
2.Official waste – from government & private offices and institutions;
3.Commercial waste – from market, Shopping complexes and canteens in industries etc.
4.Horticultural & plants waste – from kitchen gardening, indoor and out door plants, road sides trees etc.
First, the waste is loaded in a cylindrical vessel made of a special alloy that conserves the heat. Secondly, the waste is rotated at a particular speed to dry the waste, which varies from minute to minute through an automatically controlled system based on a PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC).
The friction heat generated during rotation which is very low heat, changes the state of waste and the available liquids in the waste become gaseous. To optimize the available heat during the process the friction energy is controlled by the cooling process up to a useful level also done by an automatically controlled system based on a PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC). The cooling condensates the vapour and converts it into water.
Now the fully hygienic & non-polluting processed waste is available in dry powdery form, that can be used as raw material in the fertilizer industry if the waste is organic or can be used to make the pellets for burning as solid fuel if the waste is processed mixed.
